What would a proper working IAC Valve do when off the boat.... I mean like when it is in your hand... Mine is very difficult to move in and out.. Went to get a new one and they are 113.00 bucks at Autozone and Advance Auto Parts. My question is should the valve be able to move freely in and out... I tried looking at all the threads but most just say to clean it with carb cleaner... I pulled the TPS to so I can get it checked.. Also... say the valce was stuck in a certain position.. I'm guessing mine wide open.. would that create small issues for low end speed and acceleration? My thought is that it is getting to much air or not enough.. fuel seems to be getting consumed just fine though.. Thanks... I'll post pictures soon of parts..

IAC Valve Functioning Properly?

Wicked a better response would have been.
A IAC only controls your idle speed. For example you are driving along and pull your throttle closed the IAC valve is going to open up to let more air bypass the closed throttle plate to keep the engine running. If the valve was stuck closed for example the engine my stall as it would not get enough air. Or if the valve was stuck open you may have a increased idle speed.
or you can just be a jerk a say IDLE IDLE IDLE IDLE I am sure people will understand what that is...
Oh and for the OP I am not 100% sure what type of IAC your engine uses but you can usually clean them out with some carb clean and that helps them move if they are "sticking"

I'm going to clean my IAC and see what happens.. but I have those exact symptoms... When I bring the boat from a higher RPM back to the Idle position... the boat will stall.. Only if I do it very drastically though.. If i just slow down from a plane or something like that, it is fine.. Glad I found this post though.. May save me from having to bring the boat in to a rip off mechanic.. God Bless Tigeowners.com..
From the other thread it sounds like a stuck closed IAC.. Try some carb clean.

Is there somewhere else for me to clean inside of here? Not sure if im supposed to take of another component to clean inside.. I saw another thread that had some sort of a gasket.. mine had none.. my guess is that there's had a carb and was not fuel injected.. anyway.. please let me know.. Also I just cleanded the flame arrestor last week and I think that it is getting dirty way to fast.. thoughts?

There are several different types of IAC , some are a screw type which are difficult to move, some are a solenoid which pulsate in and out, they will only effect idle , when engine is at speed they are normally wide open to catch the rpm when you let off and bring it down slowly for a better burn, and no they will not effect performance, they will normally trip a code when bad due to ecm not seeing the rpm it requested.
Hope this helps.
You can test the power to it and the ecvm controls the ground side , so you can watch while running the ground being signalled.

I pulled mine and it seemed to be dirty.. but nothing that would prevent it from functioning properly.. I did have a lot of carbon build up around the belts and flame arrester.. Here are some pictures of the parts.. took both the TPS and the IAC off.. just ordered a new IAC because I couldn't really wee how to clean the old one.. Is the IAC supposed to be under spring tension and move easily? Mine took some serious strength to move in or out.. mostly when you tried to pull it out (no pun intended) Anyway.. obviously I know jack about the mechanics of these motors.. hence why I look to tigeowners.com for support... Thanks for those who actually throw in their !!!
