I have 2003 22v, it is overheating on me pretty regularly. It idles fine and runs fine most the time but then it will over heat when opening it up and planing out. If you pull it back to idle the guage drops down within a matter of seconds. Any ideas?

Have you checked your impeller? -
If the impeller has been replaced, pieces of an old one that came apart can be blocking water hoses. Take the hoses off and back flush. Also, the trans cooler could be blocked with crud. Backwash as well.Comment

check the oil cooler, there is a screen that traps crap. it happened to me three times.. sea weed, weeds, plastic, its just after clamshell intake before impeller housing.Comment
