    Transmission Died

We were having a great memorial day teaching some people how to wake board until the last person was in the water and after getting the slack out of the rope and trying to take off I heard a pop and had a free revving motor. Anyone have any guesses what it could be?

One of two things: 1) driveshaft coupler- check the bolts that couple the driveshaft to the trans or see if you can spin the drive shaft independent of the transmission coupler 2) the transmission drive plate failed. If the driveline looks coupled and spins manually with the transmission coupler, the driveplate is the problem. It is located in the bellhousing and is bolted to the flwheel. From what you're describing and not saying you heard any other funky noises, I would say the shaft coupling is the problem.

Thanks, we'll take a look at it soon. I was fearing it might actually be the V-Drive or Transmission taking a dump.

EvilOne, My buddies boat brand new Air Nautique with 6.0L PCM with closed cooling just did the same thing we had to be towed back into the ramp really sucked. What was the final verdict on your motor?
