Engine overheats within mintes on 2006 22VE

    Impeller is good.
    Engine runds and idles fine.
Overheats relatively quickly. Within minutes, even idling.
Ideas? fixes? Anyone have a schematic of the water flow system for this marine power engine?

Plugged trans cooler, stuck thermostat. How do know the impeller si good, not doubting, just asking. Was it replaced trying to fix the current over heating issue? Was it just inspected?

Pull the outlet hose off the impeller housing and fire up the engine and see what kind of flow you get from it.if running on land, are you getting water out of the exhaust within a few seconds of start up?

On land, it itdled fine for about 5 minutes, so I assumed it was good to go.
Took it to the lake and that's when the temp started climbing and overheating. Let it cool down twice, and tried again, but same result after a few minutes.
Took it home, thinking it was the impeller, pulled it out, and it looks brand new still. Has to be something else. That's what I know so far. New territory for me from here.
      thanks nl

I assume when tested on land you used a fake lake or flushet if so that doesnt test the cooling system because you are useing pressure from the hose and not the engines pump.
While in the lake pull the small hose off of the thermstat housing going to the exhaust and see how much water blasts out while somebody starts the engine, the 2 hoses going to the exhaust are the last ones to exit the entire engine and will show you if the pump is working good or you have a restriction.
Caution that water will be hot .

          spun impeller?

Two years ago my boat overheated the same way, and the impeller looked good even when pulled out. However, John at Tige Watersports told me how some impellers can fail where the rubber part will spin on the brass splined insert. Stick a large blade screwdriver into the splines and see if you can spin the rubber paddle. If so that is your problem. Observing the outlet hose while on the lake is the first check.
