    Electrical problem?

Hi- I have an older 1992 Tige SLM 2000 with 526 hours / indmar 351, boat is like new really never had to do anything other than maint.. and a steering cable but every now and then she starts to run bad kinda bowg down like she is flooding out and when / if I turn on the blower, bilge pump accy's it stops and clears up if I turn them off it does it again this last a while until I shut it down and turn ign off and back on? Like it's some kind of electrical feed back issue to the electric choke? I know now days most boats have FI but I really like this old boat and it normally runs very well with the holley that came on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

A 1992? That's got to be one of the "originals".

If you remove the flame arrestor while running, are the choke butterflies open when the problem happens?
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

I don't know but I will check it tomorrow while I'm out on the water. Thank you for the reply! And I guess it is an original it's the first year and the boat looks and operates as well as it did new I had it stored in the air plane hanger for 12 years as we rarely used this one but we have it on a small lake on a covered lift close to the house so use it a couple times a year now. It has always been a hassle free and great running no wake quick smooth boat!

How quickly after the ACC's are turned on do you get a change in now the engine runs? Choke stats are by-metalic springs and react when they are heated by voltage, exhaust heat or both. Does this happen every time the boat is run? Is it only when the engine is warming up and then runs normal once it reaches normal operating temp?

Is your boat have points or electronic ignition?

It does it periodicaly and when the boat is warmed up too, the choke is electric as it has a purple coiled wire to it? and as soon as I flip the switch it starts to run smooth some times not always and then when I turn them off it seems like it chokes down again?

            choke

sounds like a grounding problem, the more stuff you turn on its seems to make a conection. the choke needs power to stay open.take the spark arrestor off and look at the choke butter fly to see if they are closing. they dont have to close much for the motor to run rich.the other check would be to grab the linkage to the choke and over ride the choke control. the first boats were simple but the wireing was not that pretty..
