    Heater leak and alternator noise

    Hello all,
I picked up a '99 21V riders ed. this spring and found a few things, the heater leaks hot water in one of the vents (near floor) when I throttle up (higher rpms). And my alternator squeels at times. The reason I know it's the alternator is because when I hear the noise, I see the voltmeter change. And sometimes I'm not getting 13-14 volts, sometimes it drops to 10 then I'll hear the squeal (while up on plane) and it will get back to 13-14v. The serpentine belt seems tight enough. Any suggestions?????

Sounds like your alternator could be on it's last legs. The bearings in mine completely seized up early in the year. The squealing only stopped when the belt was worn through.
I'd recommend pulling off the belt and checking the alternator for free rotation.

I would check and clean batt. terminals and wires. I had the same problem the neg. battery terminal loose. I would also tighten the belt a little.

The heater problem, I would bypass it with 5/8" union and see if you still have a leak. If you do it is in the hose. I had to replace my heater from the previous owner. I just replaced the core it was around $70.00. I have heard you can match it up at an auto store.

          alternator

          That did the trick mainiak1,
After snugging up the terminals, the volt meter stayed steady at 13.8v, that saved me some $$$$'s. Now I have to look into the hose thing, thanks again!!!
