    2000 22i transmission

    Hey guys!

While doing some routine maintenance this weekend I noticed that my poppet ball on the transmission is not going all the way into the detent hole for forward. I am getting about 3/4 of the ball in the detent. In Neutral and Reverse the ball is 100% in the detent.

Does anyone know how to make adjustments to the linkages to fix this?

    Thanks,

    R

You can unbolt the lever from the spool valve and carefully pry it off of the spool valve, spray penitration fluid onto the ball and push in on the ball to try and breck it free, becarefull because there is a spring behind the ball and will come shooting out, once free clean and grease the ball and reassemble.

I ended up replacing the Gear selector / throttle by the drivers seat. I pulled it and found that the brass pieces conecting the cable to the throttle were worn badly. I will probably need a new cable in the near future as well. The guys at the local Tige dealership gave me a discount on the gear shifter since they had it in stock (Thanks Brandon and Steve!!!) This repair improved the boat's performance! It gave me an extra 5 mph top end and got rid of what I thought was prop cavitatation noise. It seems that the tranny had been slipping for some time.
