    Houston we have a PROBLEM!!

So towards the end of last season I noticed i was taking on water..nothing the bilge pump couldnt keep up with so I kiind of let it go.Knowing the season was comming to an end. I took a glance at the coupler seal (kinda hard to see at a quick glance) V drive and no light geting in there. but I could tell it was not right. well today I took it apart to find out what was going on. Got LOTS of bad news.
    1.pps seal shot
    2.prop strut bent
3.prop shaft pretty worn at strut bushing
not real sure how it got bent but I am guessing it is from beaching it..so we will not be doing that any more. Not 100% sure but I sure dont want to make this a regular scence.

Oh yeah the bent strut had the shaft pushed over and out of alignment to say the least.

I am not for sure that's what did it. To be honest we are kind of reckless when we do it. Kind of like don't worry Kevin can fix it. We come in hot load the boat up with peeps power off and really don't use alot of common sense when it comes to this. So I will fix it up good as new and pay better attention to it. I can't fault anybody but me I don't really worry about it... I just have fun and fix it when it breaks!

            Didn't it vibrate under load?

Wow...sorry you're dealing with this, but thanks for the lesson on beaching. No more for me either.
                Ambivalent? Yes. Or Not.

No it did not vibrate at all. the only reason I even knew I had a problem was the bilge pump kicking on every 20 minutes or so. The pump would run for maybe a minute so it wasnt even leaking that bad. I really thought it was a ballast pump with a cracked nipple as I have had that happen before. So one day I turned off the valve to the ballast and it still leaked so I went looking further and saw it dripping in at the prop seal.I am not saying I wont beaach it but I will be walking it up to shore and pushing it off not powering it off.
Nothing to be sorry about Hoppykat just one of those deals. My dad always said I could break an anvil with a Q-tip. So I guess I like living up to that. I will fixer up and be back out having fun in no time.

We then bring it to us in Houston and we will see what we can do, since I live right across from Nasa Space Center, lol.

Anyway, we always walk boat on and walk off of beach from 3' deep.

She is all fixed up.This week I am going to try and get her back on the water after the winter lay up and make sure she is up to snuff. Ok its not much of a winter or layup compared to some of you guys but its been a few months...since November. So I hope all goes well. Its starting to warm up and I want to ride so bad!
