    Starting Problems

I own a 2003 22V. At the end of the day yesturday the boat died when put into idle. Then we started getting two beeps when attempting to start the boat normaly. We finally got the boat started by giving it gas in neutral but it would shut off as soon as I pulled back on the trottle to an idle speed. The boat typically dose not beep when starting, do the two beeps mean something?

IAC or idle air control valve is stuck closed. Quick remedy is pull it out and clean it but you need a new one. Two beeps is the computer's signal to the alarm that all is "ready" when the key is turned to the "on" position, it is normal.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

I will check out the IAC. I forgot to mention this started while wake surfing. Driving back to the ramp the boat also beeped twice (perfect pass was off)?

I read about an engine safe mode can someone explain that?

Many guys here have had the same problem and the IAC is usually the answer. I was told by a mechanic to clean it out with a bottle of throttle body cleaner. Mine has worked for years after doing this. Very easy fix.

depending on your engine it might make more sense financially to replace the entire throttle body I've got a marine power and the IAC alone was over $300....got the entire throttle body direct from marine power for $390.
