    Grease around hub on trailer

I saw that one of the wheels on my trailer was dirty, and I went to clean it. Found it was dirt mixed with what seems like grease (very hard to get off -- sticky). The other three don't seem to have it. Is this a problem, and if so, what is it most likely? Here's a pic (after the outside of the wheel was cleaned), followed by a pic of one of the other three "clean" ones. Thanks for any input.

One thing you may look at is your brakes. If you have a pad sticking, it will heat up the wheel, and the grease will expand and begin to ooze out wherever it can. I have had that happen to me several times.

Thanks for the response. I'll check that out.

I just replaced my brakes, had one of the rear brake shoe linings come off and wedge itself on the front shoe. Got really hot and I had grease all over the wheel. It was like pulling the boat with one brake on. Took the opportunity to clean out all the old grease and repack all 4 bearings as well.

Thanks. I'll definitely check the brakes.
