    Another overheating problem

Last two times out, engine overheats, alarm sounds, etc. temp guage to 220 or so. Bring it back down to idle and almost immediately drops to 175 alarm quiets. After that runs fine, no overheating for the rest of the day.

Sounds to me like the thermostat is getting stuck. Am I correct. Impellor was replaced last fall, so it is nearly new. Also water pump was replaced at start of last season.

Does sound like a sticking stat. 6 year old thermostat, wouldnt hurt to replace it anyway. Also look for any kind of obstruction in the raw water intake.

that's similar to what mine did last week. I replaced the stat and ran it on the fake-a-lake in the driveway and it overheated again. Then i took all of the lines off and flushed them with the hose and re-installed them. Took it to the lake and put it in the water and it ran awesome all day....
I'm still confused as to what happened.. Maybe the stat was bad and it just wasn't getting enough water on the fake-a-lake in the driveway. that's my best guess.
