    proper fake-a-lake use - Tige M.D.?

What is the proper technique for using a fake-a-lake? I have heard you should start the engine simultaneously with water to avoid problems. Also seen people wait until water exits exhaust to avoid a dry start on impeller. Is there risk of water entering cylinders via exhaust ports if you wait?

I always turn on the water then start the engine. Never have had a problem. I presume that the thermostat in the engine will not allow the water to circulate thru the engine until it warms up. If you started the engine at the same time or before you start the engine the impellor would turn while it is dry and that can't be good for it.

turn on the water, start the engine, turn off engine, turn off water. in that order. i have left the hose running for what seems like hours while trouble shooting, never had any problems with hydro locking a cylinder.
