08 Tige failed to engage in gear.

I had an issue happen twice yesterday. While pulling a surfer, in between picking up the rider, I went to engage the throttle and nothing happened. Throttle went all the way down, but nothing. The transmission did not engage, the engine did not rev. Nothing. And yes, fuid levels are fine.

We shut the engine off, and let it sit a few seconds and restarted the engine and everything operated as normal. Any ideas out there?

    Thanks

Sounds like a problem in the throttle assembly. Whats the year/model/motor of your boat. So we can help you. If it's an older boat, we need to know if it's throttle by wire or throttle cable.

08 is throttle by wire. Could be a computer problem.

On an 08, the engine RPM's are controlled by TBW (Throttle By Wire) and can be overridden/disabled buy the ECM if a failure is detected, but the engagement of the transmission is still a mechanical action via a cable connected between the throttle lever and the trans. IF the boat actually failed to rev up and go into gear, it would have to be a failure of the throttle asm. Are you sure it didn't engage and was just at idle speed?

This is interesting My 08 22ve did the same exact thing last weekend. We were surfing for hours prior to this happening. Tried to pull up rider and no power in forward or reverse. Shut off engine and after restarting everything worked fine the rest of the day.

Thats how mine started the beginning of last year. It got more frequent over the course of time. I was told that the throttle assembly would exceed the voltage parameters for some reason and that I would eventually have to buy a throttle assembly which I ended up having to do and its all better now. TWS in corona "rewired" something when I first took it in. Told me it might last an hour or months. Yeah it last about 30 min. Throttles arent cheap good luck

I have an 08 Z1 that infrequently is doing a similar thing. It does however engage in to forward drive, however no throttle. Same thing in reverse. shutting of the ignition and restarting resets. It will go for days before doing it again. Can anyone comment on where the problem is ? Is it at the throttle or motor? What is the fix?

I have a 07 20v and same issue. If all os quite I can hear the throttle engage but does not throttle up. It seems to be getting worse every time out. Loose ground somewere? Help

Same problem on mine! ('07 22Ve). Started out intermittent, now pretty much undrivable. Slacker661 please check PM's.

Did any of you get that throttle problem figured out?

Has anyone found a fix on this? My 2005 22v throttle by wire is having the same issue. Throttle cuts out sometimes when pulling a rider or picking someone up, loos all throttle control. Can still put it in gear and idle speed. Turning the engine off and on fixes it right away.
