engine is bogging down and missing

Just got a new 2008 22VE from a dealer, had about 8 gallons of gas in it, but it was stored inside. Thought the problem was bad gas so added some additives and some premium fuel to stir it up, no luck. starts up and idles fine, but when accelerating or trying to hold a descent speed, engine bogs down and coughs and almost backfires like its clogged up or something? Once I release the throttle, everything runs great, no problem with electrical at all.
Please help, don't know a thing about boats.

Mine did the same. My cap and rotor were corroded beyond belief. Easy the check and replace

Sounds like a clogged fuel filter.

I had the same problem this year, brand new 08 with no hrs. and it had a 1/2 tank of gas in it. I am guessing the stuff was two years old as it took a couple of fill ups to smooth it out. and nowit runs like a champ

Really sounds like bad gas and adding premium will actually compound the issue as both spoiled gas and premium need more heat to ignite then fresh 87 Oct.

How did you come to conclude it had only 8 gallons remaining in the tank? How much fresh gas did you add? Depending on the above answers, I would drain the tank and start with fresh 87 octane fuel and a bottle of Stabil additive and give a run.

              Appreciate the feedback!!

I drained the tank and put in a new fuel filter, had the injectors flow tested, all good. Just put in some new gas with no ethanol (pretty expensive stuff!). Will be taking it out this weekend to see if it fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!

Sea foam dude. Run it in every tank. If I dont I get the same issues and about 2 hours less to a tank of fuel. I get 8-10 hours with my 6.0l surfing and boarding with full ballast running on seafoam.

FYI on e10 fuel... Most of the time the most ethanol that gets put in the gas is 5%. By the time it reaches the pumps the residual is nil to 2% if it is used within 3-5 days. Ethanol is very volatile. What happens when you put it on you hands? It evaporates very quickly with no residual. Does the same in gas and water mediums as it is miscible in either. So really, dont waste time and money searching for non E rated fuel.

                  Figured it out!!

It was the throttlle calibration!! We went thru the entire fuel system and pumps, but all it took was a new download of the calibration from Tige'. Lee and Eddie at Tige are awesome, they took care of a brother, and sent the program to the marine power dealer here in town and he plugged my engine into his labtop, downloaded, and the boat runs like a champ!!!
Its on now, surfin' my face off!!!
