2005 Tige 22v 5.7l power loss at half throttle

First I want to apologize if this has already been discussed, feel free to direct me to the correct forum as I could not find one that fit this description.

So for the past 2 years or so I have been experiencing power loss at about half throttle. It is not at any certain RPM, always at the same spot on throttle input. About half throttle it looses almost all power and backfires. When I back off the throttle ever so slightly below that point it runs perfect. I can get up to about 28 mph but that's it. It idles perfect and runs perfect all the way up to that point on the throttle then from there on its completely powerless and backfiring. It has spent 6 months or more at a local shop trying to figure it out and after a lot of money and attempted repairs they threw in the towel and said they could not figure it out. Fuel pressure is good, all the sensors you could think of were replaced, impeller replaced, EMC swapped with a known good one and the problem was still present. When I was given the boat back I was told the only code that keeps coming back is low voltage to one of the fuel injector banks. Before I send it to another shop and spend another huge chunk of money I am really hoping someone here might have some tips on what I can try.

Dont know if this is even relevant, had my tige in the shop after intermittent fuel delivery issues and I went through everything, they said it was a bad check valve on one of the fuel lines that was stopping fuel delivery, might be worth a check.

Agreed, this is a fuel delivery problem. I would be curious to know what the fuel pressure is under load. On my boat it would idle all day long and run great on muffs. I put a fuel pressure gauge on it and ran it on the lake, fuel pressure went from a good 5psi to above zero (carburetor setup) while under load.

What ended up being the solution?

          I just realized I put 22v… it’s a 22i. My apologies!

Mine was a weak low pressure fuel pump, but my boat is an old boat with an old carbureted engine. 22i or 22v would be the same engine, just one does not have a v-drive unit.

The shop that tested the fuel pressure, did they put the boat on the water when they tested? There is a big difference in fuel consumption unloaded vs loaded.

No, only on the trailer. I finally have my hands on a fuel pressure test kit so I plan to take it out and test on the water in the next couple of weeks.
