Engine exhaust fresh water comes out in spirts

Hey guys, have a 2012 Tigé RZ2. Had some engine work done and the shop called and said something was wrong. The boat was being ran out of the water using fake lake, and the exhaust water was coming out in spirts. They said it should just be flowing out constantly without intervals. Can someone verify if this is normal?

It has to have enough water in the exhaust for the water to flow out. Water hose might not be able to fully supply enough water for the system.

Maybe theyre describing something different but I feel like all my boats have been that way except for outboards. Any inboard I have has had water coming out semi consistent but more coming out when the exhaust flap opens???

If the fiberglass tube/muffler is damaged, it's possible for the water will build up behind a blockage and then gush out with the build up of exhaust pressure instead of a steady flow. However, it's not abnormal on some boats, our 99' 2100i would do it, and unless you notice a loss of power or there is noticeable heat damage to the fiberglass muffler, the shop may not know what they're doing, especially if they called and said "Something is wrong.", not "Here's what's wrong.".
