    Throttle Cable Problem

I have a 2005 24V. Seems like the throttle doesn't react well and hesitates when you hit it to pick up a boarder.

I've attached a pic of the throttle cable and engine mount bracket. See the gap in between the standard nut at the bracket arm and the long copper piece. I think the cooper piece is an adjuster. I also think this gap is causing the cable to droop and have play in it.

Is this cable bracket broken or does the copper adjuster just need to be tightened to the standard screw?

    Thanks!

Make sure the knob on PP is turning freely, the servos go bad and seize up.

Sorry, meant to follow up on this one a while back. I guess I've been on the lake to much and didn't get around to it!

As I looked into this more, it is the cable for the perfect pass. I was told that it should have a little play in it or sag to work properly, so no reason to tighten. I just put a little WD40 on it and it has been working perfectly this season.

          Thanks for the feedback!

Interesting, I was looking at out Perfect Pass throttle linkage just the other day, and specifically at the area you were questioning.

I thought perhaps the wide brass nut was broken where it make a connection to the
L shaped copper bracket, it seems to let the cable collapse when pressure is applied.

The reason I am looking at it is because the boat won't hold it's speed, it keeps climbing above the speed we set it at, and keeps accellerating. Anyway, if you have any ideas I'd appreciate them, where did you apply the WD-40.

PS- I did the servo check thing and it seems fine. I am a little confused on the linkage test.

I did the same thing, I thought the brass nut was broken. I have confirmed multiple times since, that this is correct. I applied the WD40 right at the L shaped bracket and on the exposed cable at the brass nut. No sticking and is still working great.

Hey Brose, I wanted to let you know that I sprayed the linkage area with WD-40 as you suggested and guess what....It works perfectly now.

Great advise, thank you for the help.

                Have a great summer!
