    Won't Start

I have a 2006 21i that I was running in my yard off the hose. All was fine. Shut her off and when trying to start her again, I get tone and can hear the pump(s) turning in the engine, but she won't crank or turn over. Battery is fine and all connections are clean and tight. Connection at starter was loose, but now tight, but still won't turn over. Has anyone ever had problems with their ignition switch? Could a loose connection at the starter somehow ruined it? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

Double check the kill-switch and shifter, make sure it's in natural.

Thanks. But thats not it. Will hopefully get some time to troubleshoot again later this afternoon.

Sounds to me like the shifter is not in neutral.
If it is in neutral try wiggling the throttle handle fore and aft while turning the key.

What power plant do you have? If I recall correctly we only offered Marine Power at that time and it is Mefi4 controls.

Starter should have the ECM power wire and the wire from the battery. It has been a while since I have messed with one so I will have to ask around.

Do you have a 12V test light? Clip the aligator to the engine block, touch the tester end to the solenoid wire on the starter (it's the smaller wire on the solenoid, maybe yellow) and then have a helper attamp to crank the boat. If the light lights, then everything is good from the key to the starter and the starter or solenoid are at fault. If no light, start woeking your way back to the key switch till you find the problem.

Not sure if the NSS and kill switch interups the starter circuit or the ignition circuit, any one know? KKO?

Turns out I wasn't in Neutral. When I started working on it this afternoon, realized the throttle/shifter was in Neutral position, but the cable that goes to the transmission gear shift lever had come undone. I must have knocked it off when I was flushing out my strainer. The smile has returned to my face. Thanks again everyone.
