    idle downs after 30 mph

2003 22i with merc cruizer 350 mpi. Had the intake water impeller go on me, replaced with a new one but the boat still idles down once over 30 mph which started to happen when the impeller first went which I know is a safety feature. Does anyone know if the computer has to be reset and can I do this or does it have to be done by a dealer ?

Sounds to me that it might not be a impeller related problem.

How was the impeller when you pulled it out? Was the housing in good condition?

    What exactly is "idle down"?

the impeller was toast, only three prongs left. the housing was grooved on both sides, but the temperature on the gauge reads between 175 and 200 F when normally operating and aslo at speeds over 30,It does not go any higher. What happens when you reach just over 30 miles it dropps into nuetral then after it gets below 30 it jumps back into gear again. I know this is a safety feature but it should not be happening with the new impeller. As this was happening with the old impeller.

That sounds like a transmission problem IMO. Check your fluid level.

The imepeller is not going to effect the transmission.
If the safety feature you are referring to is "limp mode", you dont have it. Limp mode isnt a feature on your engine. Also limp mode restricts you from going above idle speed.

You'll also get all sorts of alarm warnings if your impeller is not pumping water.

Below 30mph in hard turns does it die out too? If so tranny fluid or tranny issue.
