'03 21i with some minor problems

    Hey,

Had a great weekend on the boat over the 4th but ran into some strange issues. Any ideas?

    1. Sometimes the engine won't start. Battery is charged, throttle in neutral. Sometimes after 2 or three turns of the key it will start right up.

    2. Intermittantly the boat will stall at idle. Don't know why. The idol RPMs are about 600. Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes. Just changed the fuel filter and spark plugs, and added sea foam to the tank.

If you have a Mercruiser, change out the distributor cap and rotor. We've had more issues with those.

It is a Mercruiser, I will replace them next time I'm up at the lake. Are there any specific settings for the rotor? Does it need specific adjusting or can can I just pull the old one and put on the new one?

      Thanks,
      Chuck

You should just be able to swap them out, especially just the cap.

Do you think this will fix my starting problems as well?

          Thanks,

Is it a carb or EFI? If it's a carb, could be a simple adjustment. It might be running to lean.
