    Steering Cable

    All,

I own a 1997 2050wt, over this weekend I was driving on a local lake when the boat turned right. It turns out that when I looked at the steering cable it was worn through about 3 feet from the steering wheel. If this normal?

Also where can you purchase new steering cables from?

    Thanks all

Have you ever replaced the steering cable? It shouldn't wear through, is it rubbing against something?

I have not replaced it since i purchased the boat in 2001. Is this an item you can get from a West Marine? Or do you have to go to Tige for this?

I purchased mine from my local dealer, but you can get it from a lot of online stores including West Marine. I believe SPBFan can get them as well, at a reduced price?

You just need to know the cable length. The part number should be stamped on the cable itself.
