    tranny losing neutral

I had my blower hose come off and wrap around my outdrive shaft right up against where it goes into the transmission on my 2000 21i. The wire in the hose cut the seal there at the transmission, the fluid leaked out and like a dummy I tried to limp the boat back until I figured out that wasn't going to work and got a tow. Now after replacing that seal everything is working but when I start the boat in neutral it is actually going forward. I can come back to reverse and then find that fine point between reverse and forward to get neutral. Did I do damage to my transmission by trying to run it after the fluid leaked out?

Sounds like a simple cable adjustment. Pop the cable off, then make sure the throttle lever is locked in natural. Then manually shift the trans in to neutral. Now, adjust the cable so the ball and socket or pin line up without moving either the cable or lever.
