    Oil Pressure Issue

I am new to this forum. I have owned a 2001 21i for 4 or 5 years now. Great boat, love everything about it.

At the end of last summer I had an issue with the Oil Pressure gauge. On two seperate occasions, While I was driving around 20 MPH the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero and the engine buzzer came on. I immediately shut off the engine, checked the oil and it was full. After a couple minutes I tried start to restart and everything was fine (oil pressure back to normal)

I had a mobile marine change my oil and winterize last fall, they told me they saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sounds like a bad sensor.

"T" in a manual oil pressure gauge and go out and ride like normal. If the pressure drops and buzzer sounds, pull open the engine cover and check the manual gauge - pressure on gauge correct = bad sender or wiring close hood keep riding, fix later. Pressure on gauge reading low or zero as dash gauge indicates, shut off engine, get out paddle.

My gut says gauge or sender, and not engine. Engines very rarely have intermittent oil pressure problems. Make sure it's not over full, this will cause foaming and lead to a false low pressure due to air at the sender.

Ditto, I would say 99% of the time it is the sender. Any lifter noise when it was reading zero PSI?

You should be able to get an auto meter or similar gauge from most auto parts stores for very little, good piece of mind to make sure your pressure isn't dropping. I had a silverado with the same powerplant as most of our boats and had an oil pump pickup tube fall out and starved the engine of oil instantly. When I pulled the pan it had a pickup tube and lots of metal shavings. I would think if the engine truly went to 0psi, then it would already be toast.

Thanks to all. I will try to T in a gauge this week before I put the boat in the lake. Atleast then if it happens I can know if it is a real issue.
