Ok so I have performed the service on my tige and I did run into the problem of the propeller shaft flange bolts being loose.... My gap is .002 all the way around but now that I have tightened the bolts I went to lake test it and as soon as I put it in gear there is a clunk, clunk, clunk.. I pulled the boat out and rotated the prop, it turns freely except in on spot where it seems to "bind". The prop spins 360 and is only tight in that one spot, and I can turn it past that spot then its easy again. I am going to uncouple the shaft again and run the transmission and rotate the shaft by hand but what if anything do you guys think could be causing this?

This might be a dumb question, but when you say the gap is .002, what exactly are you checking? Also, my prop does not turn freely by hand...is that not normal? I checked it the other day after sensing some vibration at lower speeds. Nothing seems bent, but I was wondering if something is loose or maybe the "gap" is off??

gap, .002" is the couplers space between each other
key 2 good aliment is rotating 180 degrees
you will always bind up in the bolt holes, so you check in-between the 4 holes
this is why i hate PCM/MARINE POWER motors, they have 8!!!
only need 8 bolts when you push 1000HP!!!
customers get pissed when i chage 2.5 hrs to check
it takes a good 45mins to undo on a v-drive!!
i do not care who u are, if u can beat that, let me know!!
prop will never turn freely, because of the strut bearing, that is why u never shift boats in gear on a fake a lake, unless lube is appliedHUMAN BUILT = HUMAN FIXED

Thanks for clarifying this. I thought maybe I had an issue because I have never been able to move my prop by hand.15 Escalade ESV-Black
