    Trans to V-drive flange

So I am doing the service on my boat today and was checking the .003 gap and I have noticed that 3 bolts are loose and one is tight. I have not checked the gap. I stopped when I discovered the loose bolts. Do I have an alignment issue? Are the bolts supposed to be loose? thanx

I know that on some 05's, the power trains were assembled with bolts that were too short and they would work loose. Haven'T heard this on an 06Ve but would be worth a real close look. The nuts should be Ny-locks and have atleast a few threads of the bolt exposed from the edge of the nut.

The bolts are long enough, and they are nylock nuts they are just loose..rattley loose....I have always paid for my services and in the service book it says to check it, there is no way they backed off...I should probably start by removing the bolts and checking the gap..

I'd install all new nuts as well, ny-locks typically dont back off

Unless they were loose, but I'd agree, it may be time for some new ones.

I was reading up on the bolts and nuts, I am missing the lockwashers and the nylocks where no good. My gap is under .002 all the way around so it seems to be no lockwashers and bad nylocks...

i have seen them come loose more than a few times not only on tiges but other brands as well.We check them on every service. If one was still tight you were lucky. We had a new customer with an 07 vlx malibu come in saying the trans is broken.Well we took a look and found all four bolts broken off.Not only that but they had been loose for a while as it had oblonged the flange holes. So long story short add this to your service check list. pretty easy to do and can save you a ton of down time and money.
