Yep, the block has been the same GM block for years and uses the same short filter. Do you have a Gander Mountain or Sportsman Warehouse near you? Gander Mountain by me sells it as do all of the larger marine places. Sometimes you can find Valvoline in 25w 40. The reason you want the 25w 40 is to be safe when the engine is cold and you get into those higher rpm's and maintaining them when the oil is still cold (or at least that's what I have been told).Comment

I looked at the valvoline web sites and cannot find any 25w-40 oil. where do you get it? Is it an sl,sj, sm rated oil?Comment

My friend is the one who had the Valvoline, he told me he got it at the auto parts store. I would just try to find either Quicksilver 25w40 or the Mercury 25w40, those are your 2 best bets.Comment

You could use Pennzoil Marine 15w40.Comment
