    Teak Help !

What is the best way to maintain a teak swim platform ? My platform is oxidized and gray. It is an '06 I bought last September, looks like it probably has never been oiled or maintained. Thanks for any suggestions !

    BigPhil,

Welcome to the site. As you probably know, there is a lot of good information on this site pertaining to Tige's. Here are two threads that will definitely help you. Once you are done, post pictures of your boat and the plateform so we all can see.

    Snappy Teak-Nu: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6271

Good luck and welcome to the site.

I went to home depot got everything I needed. The sand paper, oil and steel wool. Sanded it down, and applied 2 coats of oil with the steel wool. The steel wool makes it even more smooth, it sands while applying.

Both of these products should do the trick.

          teak deck

the black is mold, its going to take sand paper or scotch brite to get to good wood. star bright teak care works the best and several coats.

Both the teak cleaner products mentioned have a 2 step process that gets rid of mold.

I just did mine with the starbrite 3 part kit and it came out great. My teak was very grey and old looking and its now just like new. It did take many applications of the teak oil though as it really "drank it up"

I use the starbrite 3 step.
just need a brush for the cleaner and brightner. I never sanded teak. just the cleaner and brightner and then oil and she should look showroom new.
Just remember when you get on the water w/a fresh coat it can be slick.

Good luck and smooth water to you.
