    Battery disconnet question

My Tige has two batteries along with a terminal switch. The switch has No 1, No 2 , both and OFF.

Question: Is it necessary to remove the terminal wires (which I have done for the past two years) or can I just turn the switch to OFF for the winter hibernation?

I just took her out of the water today for her winter snooze

I just turn mine off and never had a problem but the boat sits on the side of the house so we start it up every month or so.

I always turn mine to off. The only thing in my boat connected straight to the battery is the bilge pump.
      Let it be!!!

If you leave the batteries in the boat, then no real need to disconnect. The only thing that might draw a little power would be the radio mem, for this, I would just unplug the radio instead of disconnecting batteries.

now, the only advantage to disconnecting batteries is to remove them for extended storage. With winter storage, you have to keep the batteries from freezing, this is their worst enemy. To prevent this, you need to keep them charged. If your boat is stored at home or something then maybe throw a charger on them once a month for a few hours. If stored at a storage place that's not real convenient to get by, then pull the batteries out and store then in a well ventilated cool spot.

Depends on how they're connected. Sometimes the 1-2-OFF switch is how the batteries are connected to the starter. In this case switching to OFF won't disconnect the radio mem or (on our boat) the clock. I've added a Dual Circuit ON-OFF switch on our boat that controls the battery connections of everything else except the starter. Everything else connects to the Dual Circuit switch which has a single red positive wire to each battery. This makes it easy to turn everything OFF and when a battery is removed there are no stray wires hanging around to reconnect.
