Any thoughts on how to get rid of the cat urine smell from the boat? It seems to be a pretty universal problem. It is gone when the boat is dry, but when you add water the smell comes back!!!
Comes from the carpet. I didnt have this problem until we got a newer replacement bow rug, which reaked when it got wet. We powerwashed, scrubbed, baked in sun, etc. The smell was still there when it was sold!

The material just smells when it get wet there really is nothing you can do about it. Its like a baseball hat (the good ones) made with wool blend, they stink when the get wet.
it it what it is.
spry some Fabreeze on it and let it dry out. it will get better over time.
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein
Mine eventually went away but it took a while. I used a product called odo-ban, worked pretty well. Someone told me that febreeze foams up sometimes after you have sprayed it on something and then it gets wet. The odo-ban is all natural so it did not foam or discolor anything.

I'm so glad I read these threads. You can't believe what I have gone thru to get that horrible smell out of my boat.
Ask not! what your wake can do for you, ask! what can you do on your wake!

It's something in the carpet/backing/adhesive, and will get better with time.

I believe so too. The lucky thing about me boating in the saltwater is I rinse my carpet often so I think the smell left relatively quickly compared to people that never get their carpet wet. Maybe that's the key, soak it and vac it several time a month for a few months...it took mine about 3 to stop smelling
