To use or not to use?

For what it's worth, a woman who has done vinyl repair in our area for several years told me not to use any of the commercial products. She claims the best treatment is a little dish soap in water just to keep it clean. The manufacturer reps she sees tell her the ingredients in the commercial products actually break down the vinyl faster. I don't know if this is true, but thought I would mention it.

      That's usually what we use.

        What about

What about a mixture of car wash shampoo & water for a quick wipe-down? I've also heard about harsh and commercial cleaners breaking down the vinyl. I would like to use a dishwash soap/water mix, but my concern is that will strip the wax if (WHEN) it gets oversprayed onto the fiberglass.

I've been using this meguair's car wash/water mix for about a month and have had good results so far. I also like that I can do a quick wipe down of some of the fiberglass spots as needed.

Any thoughts on this, or does anyone do something similar?

I bought and used Excuisit on our somewhat neglected boat. It took a lot of elbow grease, but boy did the color come back! It takes a few applications and from what i understand the stuff is actually good for the vinyl. I know the Magic Eraser looks like it works wonders, but in my understanding, it will break down the vinyl and lead to early tears (both ways)

Do any of these solutions work on stains? We had guests on the boat and a blue bag was sat on one of the seats. It was a vinyl bag if it matters and was only there about 5 minutes, but it left a pale blue satin. I used normal cleaner (3m i think) and a brush, but no luck. It was in the vinyl. I was planning on using some gel stain stick I have heard others used with success, but hoping if there is anything else to help here. I am also thinking the sun may bleach some of it out, but I would like it out ASAP.

Don't let any little kids in your boat with the fake tattoos on. They transfer to the vinyl in a hurry. Fantastic got most of it off, but the sun and time will have to do the rest. Frustrating!!

I used some PVC pipe as a frame to hold up my boat cover, and the ink on the pipe transferred right over to the vinyl. Can't get it off with anything.....I'd be happy to hear of any ideas

I am looking for something to put on a pinkish stain that I think was a fabric transfer off a swimsuit or cheap shorts. It is only on the white part of the interior. Any advise? I've tried just about everything to no avail. Help!

put it in the sun and let it sun bleach it. Just make sure there is no UV protectant in the way....

Magic eraser all the way! Now question, what is used on the carpets after riding if its starting to get a little stink to it? I was told Fabreeze?

I just let it air dry or have fans blowing in the boat for a few hours in certain areas.

                            I order it on-line

BTW I had 2 buddies use some of my cleaner on their boat vinyl and they couldn't believe how good it came out. My one buddy had the rear seat replaced this year and the new vinyl was much whiter than the older and after a good cleaning with the Meguiar's All Purpose and a vinyl brush you can't tell the difference. The stuff is great. Just follow it up with some protectant when done.

                                Geeze you're good Coach!

We scoured the Meguires site and couldn't find these products in the 1 gal containers.
We used your links to order instead.

We've been using Vinyl Sauce which is super amazing, but some are reporting it eventually turns the vinyl yellow,, so we'll give the Meguires a try.

We also love the 3m but it only comes in small containers, is expensive and is so thick it doesn't go very far.
