    Impellor question ?

Has anyone changed the impeller on an '05 24V or simillar? How tough was it? I was looking at that great step by step thread taht was posted a while ago, but wasn't sure if I wanted to accually attemp it myself. What has your experiences been?

V drive will be tough... The impeller is most likely on the back side.

If you have a mercruiser most likely you will have to take the whole water pump off.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe a trip to my local shop is in store.

it is not a walk in the park for sure and gets even tougher depending on what muffler set up you have. ballast also makes it tougher.

If you have a 2005 24v with a Marine Power engine it should not be that hard.

Took me about 30 minutes to do mine and that was the first time I've ever done it. Super easy, you just have to move some crap outta the way is all.

I'm going to take a look at it this weekend. I have the Black Scorpion Mercruiser if that makes any differance.

There's not a whole lot of difference between the Black Scorpion and the engine described in the "How-To", at least that's my understanding.

The impeller part and replacement is the same.

Give it a shot--what the heck.
If you can't get it or find yourself over your head it won't cost you anymore for the service dept to finish it for you. It may even cost less!?

You really have nothing to lose --worst case you learn something and then have to bring it in--best case a replacement costs you $17 and 1 hr of work.

                      oops, hit send too fast.

I did this w/ my steering cable. I learned a lot about my boat, said some cuss words and then brought it in to be finished. Bastards charged me the full price and did only 1/4 of the work, but it did get done so I could use it on a holiday weekend we had plans for.

                        thanks

That would take a lot of posts because he only does a single sentence at a time.
