    Fogging EFI????

I read somewhere that with EFI engibes you can't spray fogging oil into the intake, but I also read on WEST MARINE site they say to do it.

Anybody know which is correct? I'm confused. Should I just pull the plugs and toss oil straight in there?

    Thanks!
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

In my professional opinion, it is perfectly safe to fog an EFI engine. The only difference between the a carburated and EFI (TBI or MPI) engine is the method of fuel delivery. EFI engines still have a throttle body asm, in which the air enters, that you can spray/pour the fogging oil in in the same manner as a carb'd engine.

So then I can just remove the "air filter" (not much filtering going on w/ that thing) and spray through there?

      Appreciate the help! Thanks.

Yeah, not many dirt roads out on the lakes these days

Run the engine between 1200 -1500rpm. Spray enough to bog the engine down but not so much to stall it. When you've used about 1/2 a can, reach over and kill the engine

I just finished fogging my 01 21V 350 mag MPI this past weekend. I used about 1/2 can of fogging oil through the throttle body. It worked very well.

I must be anal, I do both. It's kind of complicated, but I generally suck RV antifreeze into the engine using the fake-a-lake. Once I'm sure the RV antifreeze is going in, I start fogging. After I shut the engine off I pull the plugs and shoot a couple squirts of oil in. It's probably overkill... ??

That is expensive winterizing. I just had mine done along with a fresh water impeller replacement for about $320.00. Last time I had the winterizing done it was only $170.00, a lot of that cost was the parts for the oil change, anti-freeze, and fogging oil.

Before anyone says do it yourself, yes that is the plan. I did so for 20 years on my other boat. However the Tige boat is still under warranty and having the dealer do it keeps warranty issues from being a problem. In the overall scope of things, counting what I spent for fuel and props this year, the expense of winterizing is not significant.

That is a complete oil change in the trans/V/motor and all the rest including a new fuel filter. A little steep but not totally out of line for as much as they do.

I enjoy working on it though and with the help of everybody here I think I can handle it ok.

I just did mine this year for $80. I used all Napa gold series filters and some good marine oil. That was most of the expense right there. I am planing on changing the impeller at the beginning of the year. I had an impeller to put in but found out the housing has marks inside it so I will replace that before next season starts. I fogged my EFI just as chptril said to do this and last year and haven't had a problem.

I've been using fuel stabilizer because we go all winter long, just less frequently.

You will need to drain the water out of it if it gets too cold or you will have expensive repairs. I never fog my engine, though.

I would just go with some fuel stabilizer and run it every couple weeks. what is the humidity in Texas during the winter? If it is on humid side put a couple squirts of fogging oil. That's if your going to let sit longer then a month with out starting. Just my 2 There are others more educated then I.
