    Floor Removal

Good morning all, I have a PRE2150WT 1997 boat and I need to inspect the packer, I am not sure how to gain best access to it, I note that there seams to be a section of flooring directly above the packer that looks like it can be removed, not sure how to go about removing it to gain easy access to replace the packer, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the engine cover by unscrewing the two hinges on the rear of it. Remove the rear seat and seatback.
Lift up the access panel from the rear of the engine. It straddles the two inner beams of the boat, and just sits in place.
You may need to "walk" it out twoared the engine compartment.

For info on changing the packing, view this article.

For what it's worth, if you have the time, and a little extra money; go ahead and order a PSS seal and install it instead. My bilge is dry, and I don't have to adjust the packing anymore.

Thanks for the above, I know what I will be doing this weekend.

Thanks for the advice on the PCC seal, I will have to do that another time as I am sure you can't get them over here and will have to order from the states.

      Cheers

One more thing: When removing the hinges, remove them from the boat floor.....much easier than removing from the cover.

You shouldn't have to remove the engine cover at all. Just remove the rear seat and look for a looped handle and pull up on it. It will come out and you will have full access. Good luck!

Cool, might be different in the longer boats. Mine you either have to remove the rear support, or the engine cover. Engine cover is much easier.

Right, took the floor out and put the boat in water, I don't have the normal packer its one of the PSS seal hat you guys talked about. So i run the boat and no leaks. Took the boat out on friday and did a lot of motoring and low and behold there is water in the hull, again not a lot to trip the pump but enough thats its becoming annoying.

Any thoughs on what else could be leaking, i thought it might be the sea water pick up were it comes through the hull, how can I check that? or reseal it?

You might need to replace the carbon seal part of the PSS. We bought our boat used and it has the PSS, so the original owner either ordered or it came from the factory those years. Ours boat had sat for 2 years and leaked the first time we put it in the water. After awhile it reseated and it hasn't leaked again. Ours does not have the water cooling fitting on the carbon ring. Give PSS a call, they were very helpful.

Check the whole on the bottom of the circ. pump and see if it has any leaking stains. Replace all the blue water drain plugs that have an o-ring, if you haven't done so recently. Check all hose clamps for tightness.

That bellows looks like it needs to be replaced. The carbon flange also looks like it might be due, but they are supposed to be a lifetime part. You might want to contact PSS directly. They might want to see that photo.

No, not the fresh water sea pump. The thing on the front of the engine that looks like a traditional water pump. On a boat, I guess, they call it a circ. pump. I took a picture of mine before I replaced it.

Well I have checked all the pipes and stuff and i managed to find out were it was leaking from!!!!! The swim platform supports, I filled the boat up with some water with all teh bungs in and you can see teh water running very slowly out of the holes were the bolts come through. Question now is how do I fix it? I woul dlike to take the tank out and remove and replace all the bolts and seal it all.

Can some one tell me how to remove the tank? and the oter steps I will need to do.

Sorry I've never been that deep into it. Please, take some pictures while you do it for the rest of us.
