Oil Filter Part Number for 2006 20V

Anyone know where I can find the oil filter part number for a 2006 20V with the 340HP GM Vortec 5.7L MPI?

I have the same question. I topped 20 hrs yesterday and I need to change the oil for the break in period. I want to add to the question, is there an automotive equivelant that can be used, as it is with many other GM based engines. The same oil filter in an automotive application is usually a 3rd of the cost of buying a marine oil filter which is the same thing under a different color of paint or label.

Yep its not in the manual is it?
O.K. here are some cross references...... Fram: PH 30, AC: PF 25, Purolator: L 20047, Proline (pep poys same as purolator) 20047, Pennsoil: PZ3.
You may want to download the Indmar and PCM manuals.

Thanks G Man, that just what I figured. Same old filter thats always been used on the 5.7. That helps a lot.

Thanks for the good info--PH30 it is. I'm not sure yet what oil I'm going to run...I was going to run SAE 40 oil...I pulled that out of the Marine Power owner's manual (it recommends SAE 30 or 40 depending on the operating environment), but my dealer recommend 10W-40. Any recommendations?

The marine power manual specifically states not to use multi viscosity oil, and then says its o.k. to use 20-50. Go figure. Indmar and PCM both recommend 15-40 for the same GM 5.7l engine block. 10-40 has a lot of viscosity improvers (VI). These are polymers that are added to the oil. If you want multi viscosity go with 15 -40 (less viscosity improvers) or use the mercury marine 25-40 otherwise use the straight 30 or 40 weight. I used straight 30 sae for 20 years in a boat (350ci) and never had any problems.

I would also recommend to stay with a "Marine" grade oil as it will have more rust inhibitor, for the high moisture conditions and down time, than auto engine oil.

"Hey," how about a drain hose for draining the oil? Does anyone know if Marine Power installs this on their engines? I have not seen one in my poking around to get familiar with my boat. Curious if there is a hose to push through the drain plug opening for easy of draining of oil. With the weath of information provided in the owners manuals I got or didn't get, (Sarcastic) I don't have any resources other than this forum to access or get answers to these questions. I do have a two way pump with the little spaghetti noodle tube to slide down the dipstick tube, but that is very frustrating to use.

You should find it on the port side, curled up to the bellhousing above the starter, below the distributor. That's where I found mine, but found I could about 4 of the 5 qts using my sucker pump thou Much quicker than draining.

You are probably right, I don't know if I can even see my drain plug opeing from the top side. It might be like theading a needle with my eye's closed. I might be able to see it better once the side panel is removed to access the oil filter. But if you have done it and say the sucker pump is the best, I will just use what I am used to. "Thanks"

Look for a hose with brass end fittings on top of the valve cover. That is where mine is. Also you will have to seriously get on the cap to remove it. Mine definelty had red Locktite on it.

When removing the filter be careful and put a lot of rags around the area. The boat is not designed to get it out without some tipping of filter and spilling of oil. This is a problem with a 2005 24v
