Hull Wax

What is a good quick/spray on hull wax to use after each outing? I currently use the vinegar/water mixture to get rid of the water spots but supposedly that removes wax.

So what product(s) have you used with good results?

Matt, I have Babes, but I don't find it to be as slick and spot free as some carnubara sprays. Eagle just came out with a new carnubara based nanowax that is killer. I use babes when I pull out and wipe everything down. About mid week I hit it with the Eagle to pull the remaining haze spots, and it smells good too.

Meguires 1 step for wax, Babes for wipedown looks clean

For wipe down I use something that we call "Purple Magic" but it's really Final Finish Car Polish. My buddy owns a body shop and buys it in bulk. You can use it on the glass and everything! Think it's like $15 for a gallon maybe?

I have been using their products for a year now and love them. Before Hot Sauce I was using Ducky but it left a film and I had to follow up with a quick detailer to make it look right.

I would stay away from the vinegar and water unless you are doing a spray wax right after each time. Hot Sauce will not strip the wax and is a one step process.

And the Hot Sauce leaves a very nice shine to the boat and maintains your wax in between waxing.

I read an artical on wax that said to only use marine products on the bottom because anything with carnuba can be attacked by alges or bacteria that eat the carnuba and can cause gelcoat problems, but I have never seen this happen. Anybody else out there hear of this?

I waxed the side of my boat with meguires and 3M. Meguires works best. I was told by a fiberglass shop not to wak the underneath of my boat because it will cause the boat to drag in the water. I'm not sure if this is true but he has a lot of years working on boats.

this is somewhat true, as the worlds fastest sailboats don't wax their hulls, they wet sand them to get them uber smooth.

On any boat with an engine, the result of wax on the hull is nominal.

I have a black main panel and transom, and its shows all water spots. I used Hot Sauce last season and liked it, but it still didn't seem to work as well as the vinegar/water mix. Based on some other posts, I added a little liquid Turtle Wax to the mix, hoping that would help on the wax issue. So far, it seems fine, but I have to admit I can't really say how to tell if the wax is being stripped.

Thanks guys. Looks like I will pick up a bottle of Babes and try it out.

Vinegar and water, dry, then a 50 / 50 mix of meguires minute wax and turtle wax liquid spray'd on.

The wax is easy to remove when mixed and sprayed, and makes the next boat outing cleaning much easier.
Looks teriffic too.
Wax comes off with vinegar and water, so make the waxing process as easy as possible.

I use this. I absolutely love it. When the boat comes out of the water, I immediately walk around the boat spraying. Then everyone grabs a microfiber and dries the boat. It looks freshly waxed after every outing.
