    Trailer Maintence

Who here does yearly Maintence to their trailers?

Just a brief list of what you do would be great. I'm just curious as I hear and see different things.

    For example,

I fill up my bearing buddies, and give the trailer a good cleaning.
Check the tire pressure, and tire wear, and my spare as well.

    Thanks.

                Beginning of each season you should;
                • Checking bearings is a good thing at least every other year if you have bearing buddies, each year if not.
                • Check the brake fluid
                • Check the safety cables or chains for wear
                • Check the auto lockup cable for wear
                • Check the hitch cup, a light coat of waterproof grease helps things turn better
                • If you have exposed wiring then check connections and look for fraying
                • Make sure all lights are working and replace any bulbs that look weak
                • Check harness connection, make sure all pins/receptacles are clear of debris/oxidation and apply some dilectric grease to male/female connectors
"Call me anything you want ... Just don't call me NOBODY!

We check all bunks, tighten the winch pole?, check tongue all wiring and safety cable stuff, and tire pressure.

how often do you guys find you need to replace the carpet on the bunks? I did mine after the first year, but figured that was cuz I was coming into fast, so now i have slowed my approach and find it lasting longer.

Have not replaced any carpet yet, but 2 of them need to be. Trailer is on its 3rd season. We cracked a board right down the middle on our second time out.

Usually for bunks I just crawl around underneath and tighten all bolts.

Slower approach is nice.. like less than idle..little taps. We just found out we need to drop the ball down a little lower so I guess that will effect loading and unloading.

I replaced the carpet on my bunks at about the 5 year mark.

Check the bolts on the swing away tongue. There was a problem with them having too short of threads on an earlier post. They should be checked anyway.
