Trans fluid, and the fluid is in the resevoir under the motor. I think on most i's it is on the starboard side near the rear.

I think the motor hes referring to is the pump motor on the TAPS not the boat motor. The TAPS pump assembly on the boats built in the 90's (PRE series) is located at the rear starboard corner, you lift off the rear seat assembly and its sitting behind it on the side of the boat. I've never seen a 21i so cannot tell you where the TAPS on that boat is but suspect that is the location where Spharis was referring to

Behind starboard rear locker, at least that it where it is on my V drive. It is the middle unit with the clear cover:

How often should you check it?

JFive35 it is the back starbaord ski locker in that small cut out. You will see two thumb screws to undo. You will then see the pump and tank.
That is where mine is and I have a 01 2100 V ltd.

This is where mine is. How do you tell how much fluid should be in there?

Spharis- are you saying to use the dexron III trans oil in this unit?

By the way does anyone know where you can get the blue plugs that go into the side and other places to drain for winterizing? (What are they called also)
Could you use brass pipe plugs for this?

                          Thanks

For the blue plastic wing nut drain plugs, any mercruiser shop and they are very proud of them! lightning

                              Ok, thanks.

Is there a reason you can't use pipe plugs?
