Trans and V-drive fluid recommendations

I am changing the fluids out in my 360hp 2007 24Ve. On the trans and v-drive I would like to know what fluids to add back in. The manuals provided show ATF in both. The Trans has a label showing to use ATF. That is what came out. The V-drive unit looks like motor oil came out and there is no sticker on it indicating what to use. What should I use? It seems that I was told ATF in the trans and oil in the v-drive. But I am puzzled.

I use Dexron III ATF in my transmission and SAE 30 weight oil in my v-drive... Not sure if that has changed on the newer models.... Sure someone will chime in though.... Def do no put ATF in your V-drive Oil reservoir... Should take 1 quart of oil and 1-1.5 quarts ATF depending on your capacity...

Only use ATF in the ZF hurth trans, you can use 30w in the drive though, supposedly it will quiet it down being a little thicker. That info was confirmed with my Tige’ dealer lead mechanic. I’ve got an 07 22VE.

That’s what’s in my ZF 45 IV, ATF in the transmission and 30w in the drive.

Thanks guys. I thought that when I bought the boat oil is what I was told went into the drive and ATF in the trans. Thats what I have used in the past. However I just stated readinf the manual the other day after 10 years. The manuals I have kind of say ATF in both but they also use the word "oil" interchangably at points. Kind of confusing.

I didn't bring it here when we moved last year but I did get it shipped recently! Have to change the oil and fluids as well but other than that she is ready to surf! Come visit whenever. I will have to PM ya my new number too as it has changed. Hope all is well!!

Non-detergent 30WT in V-drive. Doesn't have the additive packages meant for an engine. Dexron III in tranny

^^^This is where it gets hard to make blanket statement about service in the forum. Late 90s-early 2000s was Merc. Trans takes ATF and V drive takes SAE30
Then came Marine power, then PCM, then Indmar. Some ran ATF in both boxes, some run ATF and 50 full synth Trans in the vdrive.
All run ATF in trans. V drive is the big difference. I would run manufacturer recommended fluid. All of the above are still in business. Mercs probably the least helpful if you try a good ol fashioned phone call. Serial numbers help speed the process along drastically. Gets you the exact info for you engine as optioned when it was built and recommended fluids...
