    Pressure washing your carpet

Any one ever done this before??? I saw an article in waterski about using low pressure to get all the ground in sand out of your carpet. Just wondering if any of you had had any luck??

I wouldn't do it. I think you're better off going to an auto detail place and have them steam clean your carpets or, if you're having your house carpets steam cleaned, talk them into doing your boat carpets as well. This pretty much sucks all the dirt out of your carpets.

You could use a garden hose to wet the carpet down then use a wet-dry vac and suck the water out. Next place a fan on the engine box to blow air into the boat to speed up the drying process.

I don't know if I would steam clean the carpet, the steam might loosen the glue holding down the carpet.

I've never had an issue with this.

I use the garden hose, shopvac, fan method. I also spray some OdoBan on the carpet to keep it smelling nice. We use our boat in salt water mostly and end up with lots of sand in the boat so I am doing this just about every sunday. I also got some of these little cover vents and they seem to help keep things aired out.

I did it to my old boat 1989 it made the carpet look new again. It was all matted down. Practice on your floor mats on the car. Find the right distance and angle. I would do it to my Tige if the carpet matted down.

I have pressure washed my carpet for years. Has not seemed to hurt it. Sure gets it clean. When I had my boat upholstered last year, I let the upholsterer talk me out of replacing it. He said that the new carpet would not look much different than my old carpet and the new carpet would not stick as good as the old

Well I did it ........ and it worked great. It is amazing the amount of sand and sh*t that is embedded into your carpets, no to mention the hard to reach spots that you cant get to with a vacuum. I used real low pressure and it worked like a charm.

After the first pass I took some carpet cleaner and scrubbed the carpet for that added clean and fresh smell, and rinsed one more time!!!!

This whole carpet deal would be easier if the carpet was removable like the bow.

Couldn't agree with you more, this was almost a deal breaker for me...but I am da** glad I went with the Tige ultimately.

I have a Karshner 2400 PSI pressure washer with the removable heads. I used the lowest head which I think is a 40 and it worked like a charm. I also didnt get real close to the carpet.

Good to know. How close did you get?
