MP 6.0 L fuel filter change

I have seen tons of threads on this topic but not to much resolution.

Some say that the bottom of the canister screws off and you can put the new filter in. I have put tons of force into it and it wont turn. Looking at it, it really does not look like it would come apart. Looks like I have to remove and access from top. Or do I have to pull up my dress?

    This is on a 2004 24V MP 6.0L 375hp motor.

    Did you see this thread?

There is a comment about removing center bottom bolt. I don't have this filter/water separator but remembered the thread from when I was looking for mine.
