Proper way to remove old decals

Is there a method that you've used? I need to remove my large tige emblem off the transom this spring as it looks pretty bad. Any special solutions to use on it first?

Heat gun to soften the adhesive, peel them off and then a mild adhesive remover to clean up the residue.

when I had mine made up I asked the decal guy how to remove the old ones and he said heat gun and then to get the residue off rubbing alchol which worked very well

The most effective way, and I used this on my boat, is to use an eraser wheel that you get at Nappa in the body work section. The wheel is put into a drill and it basically rubs the decal off. I removed all the decals off my 02 2100v in about an hour. Keep the drill speed low so not to burn the gel coat.

heat gun and goo-gone worked great. I had some spots I needed to use a razor blade due to my gas leakage issue. But I sanded out the bad spots and am now just waiting on a buffer to bring back the shine. Then I'm going to replace the decal on the transom with the new chrome Tige decal.
