Just had a couple questions about winterizing my boat. I just purchased a 1995 fslm with a direct drive350 mag about a month ago. I live just south of Boston and the winters can get pretty cold so I want to do this right and not get surprised with a cracked block. The method I used for filling lines with antifreeze was with the boat running. I hooked up a hose from a sump pump and sucked about four gallons into engine after it had been drained already. Waited until the anti freeze started to come out exhaust, then fogged the engine during this process.
To drain I took apart coolant hoses from water pump and the two drain plugs from exhaust manifold were removed, as well as block plug
I have heard of doing this twice to make sure the block has no more water inside even though I have already fogged the engine. I could just put old plugs back in for the second time so I don’t foul the new ones from the engine already being fogged.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
