Question: In the picture shown below can I remove the cast tab that the magnetic tool is attached to on the water pump bracket? When I am replacing the water pump impeller, I remove the 1 bolt and 1 nut from a stud that mounts the bracket to the block and the water pump assembly is free to swing on the stud. When I try and remove the assembly this tab hits the back of the harmonic balancer. Removing the pump when the bracket is attached to the block turned out to be difficult but it can be done. Is there another way of servicing the impeller or can I remove this tab?
