    Hull Cleaner?

We wipe down after every use with water and vinegar, but the white hull is starting to get stained brown because of the dirty water in some of our places. Any suggestions on chemicals to use to get hull clean?

We had a similar problem with our old boat and used some bathroom cleaner and the dirt rolled right off and looked good as new. I am just a little worried to use that same cleaner on the Tige'. I know the manual recomends some cleaners, I will check that this evening.

Dave - I have used StarBrite Hull Cleaner forever. It is some nasty stuff that will clean the hull. I usually clean the boat on the lift in the summer with a bucket of soap water and think it is clean. Midway through the summer I will wipe down with StarBrite Hull Cleaner and what I thought was white was actually yellow! After I apply it I will rinse and wash then apply a coat of Restore Boat Polish from Larsen sales.

I agree with Booms, I used Starbright for years on my Sea Ray works great but make sure you rinse very well after use, also watch letting is sit on vinyl graphics for to long it will make them streak.

Definately Starbright. and heed the warning..."it is some nasty stuff", use gloves and protective eye wear. Just spray on lightly, brush it, and rinse.

Even diluted 50/50 with water it can burn your skin and worse if left on, or gets in your eyes. But it works wonders and will make the boat look new again. You will need to re-wax afterwords for lasting protection though.

Can you find it at WallyWorld or usually only boat dealerships, etc. ?
            Waiting for another good one!

I usually picked it up at West Marine...but seems to me I saw it at the Wally in Page AZ.

Thanks guys, I will try it. You say it is nasty and rinse, what about overspray dripping on painted trailer, should I be concerned about that? Will it eat paint off of boatmate trailer? I do not have a boat wash at my marina. I am guessing I need to take the boat to a car wash and then thoroughly rinse boat and trailer after use?

This Works VERY WELL! Imagine that commercial that has the "scrubbing bubbles" cleaning your bathroom. It is seriously that good and very easy. Similar to the stuff mentioned by others, this stuff is costic and you MUST HEED ALL WARNING using this stuff. Breathing mask, cloves, protective eye wear, and if there is wind determine where "upwind" is and spray from downwind to upwind. Let stand for recommended time on bottle and wipe off then wash area cleaned. Doesn't do anything to the trailer or anything like that.

This was recommended to me out boat mech that works only on these kind of boat and has doen it since '89.

I'm not saying the other stuff other peeps are recommending won't work, just giving another product it's dues as well. If you can't find the other stuff, I would really recommend this you give this stuff a try. I filled a spray bottle up with the mixture it recommends on the bottle and sprayed it on just like you would spraying on glass cleaner. Then wiped it off as recommended. You can see the drips running done the side of the boat cleaning straight through the yellow before you even wipe this stuff off. I didn't get it anywhere near the graphics nor should you get it near aluminum. But this stuff works wonders on the hull. It doesn't take much at all to get the job done.

You'll be fine with just a rinse with hose water, the trick is not letting it set on too long with out rinsing it off. It won't eat paint off of anything, but it will discolor decals and the like if left on more than a few seconds without brushing off and rinsing.

Just respect it ... kind of like toilet bowl cleaner with bleach, great on the bowl but will discolor the seat if left on to long!

To give you an idea of how wicket it is, when I poured it into an empty spray bottle then added water it fumed, that gets my respect anytime.

This all great for cleaning but once you have cleaned you need to protect it with a good wax. If you wax and then use something like a vinegar water solution you are striping the wax right off again. So get it clean and wax then use something that will not take the wax off when wipping the boat down. I use babes boat bright, works great.
