    When to replace trailer tires?

The last four digits of my trailer tires are marked "3808", which I understand is the 38th week of 2008. The trailer has been stored outside (exposed to sunshine) during summer and inside during winter. The tread is of course fine.

On the conservative safety side, how old (from manufacture) should the tires be before replacement? I seem to recall another thread suggesting changing tires when they are 4-5 years old (from manufacture).

    Thanks!
