Gelcoat Cracks at Tower Base

My 03 has a metcraft tower but its not the one that they had all the problems with. So I would have to see the tower as well to make a call on that. IF it does have the crappy metcraft tower I would figure that into the offer as well. Because there is no way I would use the boat with that tower. I very seriously doubt the cracks are structual.They are so common its not even funny. Again if rest of the boat is nice I would still buy it. stress/spider cracks around the tower are not a big deal IMPO. They can be fixed and really cause no problems. Get the pics up and post a pic of the tower as well...I would be more concerned if it had the crappy metcraft tower than I would be about a few stress cracks thats for sure.

I never had any trouble with my tower either...it was good. I never pulled any tubers off of it though. Come to think of it I think I had some very small cracks around the tower base, but the tower was still super tight. I had 4 kickers and a light bar on it as well. I have been on a couple boats where I know they were pulling all sorts of stuff of the tower and it was really loose...just thought it may be something to check for to maybe further the suspicion of structural damage...pics would be a great help...of the tower and the stress cracks.

I've got an 05 22v with some of the same cracks and a bit of looseness on the top end. Which tower is the "Crappy Metcraft?" Anyone have pics? Cuz I've been looking for a reason to upgrade and this could be a good one...

Your 05 should be fine. The tower in question was long gone before then.
