Tige told me that the engine, tranny, and V-drive are shipped to them as a unit from MarinePower. I contacted MP and they said they started putting 30w in them to quiet them down.

Why would I need to mess with the thermostat if I DID use antifreeze?

IMO, pouring the antifreeze directly into the block, through the thermostat opening, is by far the most effective way to do it.

I decided to pour some anti freeze in my block all I did was first drain the block and the engine exhaust manifolds. Bascially I did the "quick winterization" listed as a sticky on the how to section. After that I pulled the exhaust hose off at the pet cocks on the exahust manifolds. I re routed the hose temporaily to the top of the engine and poured rv/marine antifreeze down the block until it started coming out at the knock sensors (it doesn't take much fluid) I then re-installed the knock sensors and poured about a half gallon of anti freeze into the exhaust hoses. So basically I was able to get fluid into my block without pulling my thermostat housing. I then pulled the big hoses off my thermostat housing and poured antifreeze in those too. I then reconnected the exhaust water hoses to the exhaust manifold and voila done.
