        before you start to play-around
i recommend buying the $600 computer program

just you nee to know is that all sensors need a Good ground and a 5v reference for them to work right

        just becuase

I'm not playing around on the engine itself. Just reading and trying to get educated.

Dom Forte has mentioned the PC software too. Here's one that has been recommended:

            i use diacom

CDI electronics has a better one, a little more bt has more engines it talks to

well to tell you the truth, your going to cause a headache if you do not understand simple things first

there is so much mumbo-jumbo in those manuals
and what makes u crazy, is that each manufacture calls different sensors different names!!!!

              From CDI's website:

Currently we support Mercury, Yamaha, BRP including E-Tec and Ficht, and new to version 5 is support for Suzuki.
No PCM in that list. Meanwhile, Diacom says:

DIACOM® Marine version 2.4 supports: MerCruiser, Crusader, Pleasurecraft Marine, Ilmor, Flagship Marine, Volvo Penta, Indmar, Marine Power, Kodiak, Panther Airboats, and Mercury Outboards.
They each have some the other doesn't. Guess it depends on which engine(s) you care about. PCM and Mercury cover it for me.

Oh... they don't mention that on their website.

Not buying today, so hopefully it will be available when the day arrives. Thanks for the heads-up!

It's easy to understand how each manufacturer would have their own curves to achieve their own goals for their specific application. As you said, a boat engine is "always driving uphill!" {grin}

                      Thanks!
I think you missed my point, what i was saying is if you get the mefi4 manual the sensors and theory of operations hasnt changed and its quite informative.

No, no, I got it. But you also said that each manufacturer takes that basic hardware and then optimizes the curves (i.e. firmware) for their specific application. And since a boat is "always driving uphill", the curves for PCM would obviously be different than if the engine were being used in a land vehicle, for example.

                        Thanks!
