It's the manual that came with the care package that accompanied the boat. The manual is dated 2008 but I **presume** it applies to my 2009 engine. Maybe yes, maybe no. Which just further proves my point.

What I have done, several times, is provide PCM with the exact serial number of my engine and ask them to sell me the service manual for that engine. That would eliminate all question, period.

PCM instructed you to provide the serial number of your engine to your or a Dealer willing to assist who could order the manual for you.

I'll go out on a limb here and bet that an 09 from FL does not have a CAT motor as it was not mandated anywhere but CA at the time. KKO or Dom would know for sure since it was their boat. It was an option, just not mandated for the rest of the US.

The invoice specifically says "EX-343 CAT" and, as I vaguely recall, the engine has the grey exhausts with "CAT" on them. When I peel off the shrinkwrap tomorrow I'll confirm and post here.

Is it possible to add a cat on an engine that did not come with one, such as my 09? Anyone have a guess on the cost? I'm thinking about doing that or FAE. I know it'll be a boat load more money but how big is that boat?

I dont think you can add without major changes, due to computor calibrations.

We are a saltwater market, we were told at the time that the cat motor would be a heat exchanger motor, so it made since, however that wasnt the case.

...and I just unwrapped the shrink wrap and voila, it's a CAT engine.

Raw water cooling doesn't hurt up here, we're freshwater, so no worries in that regard.

I have started another thread in the V Series forum with some questions, though. A couple of really strange things I've found now that I've had a couple of hours to scramble around on the boat in my driveway.

Sorry to hear you are so frustrated. I know it's not in your state but I have been pretty impressed with Joel at Stayton Motors in Stayton Oregon. When you call ask for Joel. I beleive if he can help he will.

Reading your posts I believe you are really frustrated, but be careful as someone else hinted, we all need our dealers at some point. I think to if you ask on this forum, if someone can, they will try to help you too.

I had to call a Tige dealership in TX to get an answer about rear locker dementions before I owned the boat we have. I had ask several places but no one had info for me. I even emailed Tige directly. But thanks to a very helpful dealership in TX I was able to get the info I needed. Yes he isn't in ID but sounds like you know what you are doing mechly so maybe just some good sound advice from over the phone would help.

One last thing...everyone in this business knows everyone else. I talk to one mech out there and they know they other mechs I have talked to.

                          Hope this helps.

I am sorry that the method that I provided is not sufficient to you. We have a large dealer network that should be more than happy to order the manual for you if that is what you would like. If necessary they may even have it dropped shipped to your home. If there is any way within our policies and procedures that I may assist, like by contacting a dealer for you, I will be more than happy to do so. Please let me know.

                            Thank you,

                            Trey Thurman

I'd just like to point out how impressed on I am that PCM is even looking at threads on Tigeowners let alone responding to a customers requests! Nice job PCM! IMO they are providing more than adequate support for the customer. Do you think GM/Ford/Dodge/Toyota/Nissan reads the car forums and replies to customers?

Fair enough. I will approach one of the two local PCM shops and see how it goes. I need to get filters, etc. for winterizing and will handle everything in one visit.

One thing I was hoping to handle with your staff on the phone is the status of my engine based on its serial number. In other words, are there any outstanding (or already handled) recalls, etc. Can the shops do such a lookup for me?

                                Thanks!
