    Turning finns

    2000 21i here in australia.
On the turning finns under the boat there are 3.
on closer inspection today while working on her i noticed the front 2 are leaning to the left alittle bit.Just woundering if this is standard or do they all need to be in the same line as the prop sharff and skeg, and rudder.
    Any help would be appriciated
PS mid mount mpi 350 if this helps at all.
I havent had her in the water yet but so looking forward to it

They should all be aligned. It's pretty soft metal so you should be able to bend them yourself with some leverage. They are called tracking fins and there are lots of threads on this site with pictures of really bad fins. Use the search tool and you'll find lots of info on bent fins.

Thanks for the advice i just gave it a hit with a rubber mallet and it bent really easy. Put a straight edge along the turn fins and they are all true and straight again. I cant believe how easy they bent after i hit it with the mallet.Must be very soft. thanks again

yup. ive seen a picture of some on here that were bent all the way up to the hull....

Next time i would take a wrench and bend them rather than wacking them with the hammer. btw, why arent you in one of those sweet rolco's that we cant get over in the states!!!

Turning fins, good to know. Does Australia use the other English words such as boot on a car is the trunk in the States, and the bonnet is the hood of the car? What other terms are different for boats?

Question,do you know why they call them turning fins?

we call them Tracking fins, because the fins are a way to keep a ski boat going straight down a slalom course when under load from a skier.

                just wondering
